UPS is the short bus of shipping companies.

Here is why:

Unlike FedEx you cannot opt to pick up a delivery until the first attempt is made. If the first attempt is made on Friday and you are not home you are screwed.

Why? The office closes at 7

The trucks often don't come in until the office is closed. In my case it was 9:30

They will not redeliver nor can you wait until the truck comes in.

And the office is closed on Sat.

This is the part that kills me. Even though the company that I bought my new machine from (Tiger Direct) nutted up for next day delivery so I would get it Friday, I have to wait until Monday because UPS has sh!tty policies and practices.

If I had used FedEX I would have been in possession of my new computer and would be a happy camper, But now I am pissed off, bad mouthing them publicly and given a choice I will not be giving them my business any time soon, if ever. I would rather pay more with FedEx or even give my business to USPS because at least they are honest about sucking.

I got a new phone... Actually I got a new pocket computer (with Windows CE) that came with a built in phone. The thing has more horse power than my workstation back in 2000. So my first thought is, being the geek that I am: What can I get this thing to do?

What should I try first? Hmmmmm... Wouldn't it be cool if I could get it to serve up web pages. HEY!!! It *is* connected to the internet. Huh? I wonder if I get it to run Apache?

Then the rational part of my brain kicked in: WHOA!!! STOP right there.. I have so much OTHER stuff I need to learn. My to do list could keep me occupied for the next ten years... easy.

Then I saw this article in my in my inbox and it made me feel better: Installing Linux on the PlayStation 3.

Seriously... is there some sort of 12 step program for this sorta stuff? I am going to end up like this some day (again).

I have a love hate relationship with FF. The plugins are great. But it is a ram and CPU WHORE.

This is what FF does when I surf on my 2.8 gig P4 laptop. See all those EXTENDED periods where the proccessor is pegged? This is me clicking on links on standard web plain jane web 1.0 html pages.

So this is the crown jewel of open source?

Is it me or is something very, VERY wrong here?
